Jerusalem’s Deputy Mayor To Spearhead Kol Israel as First Female Secretary General

Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan-Nahoum was named the new secretary general of Kol Israel on Sunday, becoming the first woman to ever hold the position and marking a significant milestone for the World Confederation of United Zionists and its partnership with Tnuat HaMercaz Haliberalit HaNoar HaTzioni, the ideological successors to the General Zionist Party.

Hassan-Nahoum, who also serves as special envoy for innovation for the Foreign Ministry and co-founder of the UAE-Israel Business Council, steps into the role with a rich background in fostering Israel-Diaspora relations. She succeeds Aaron Weil, a veteran Jewish educator and organizer.

Kol Israel, known for its independence from political parties and religious denominations, focuses on engaging Jews worldwide in a relationship with Israel that is free from labels. The organization places a strong emphasis on investing in Zionist youth movements and innovation within the Zionist movement.

Leaders within the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency have lauded Hassan-Nahoum’s appointment, highlighting her extensive leadership experience, advocacy work, and multilingual communication skills as vital assets for expanding global Jewish partnerships. “With deep leadership experience and a strong network of Jewish, Zionist, and institutional relationships, Fleur will play a crucial role in expanding our partnerships with Jewish communities around the world,” said Kol Israel Chairman David Yaari.

Hassan-Nahoum’s vision for Kol Israel involves revitalizing the Zionist movement for future generations, emphasizing unity among the Jewish people, and addressing the challenges posed by politicization and stagnation within national institutions.
