Northern Israeli Kibbutz Ravaged by Hizbullah Attacks

The Upper Galilee kibbutz of Manara, in northern Israel, has suffered severe damage following Hizbullah’s attacks from Lebanon. Roni Yafet, a kibbutz member, reported to Israel’s Channel 12 on Saturday that 86 houses—over half of the homes on the kibbutz—were destroyed. Since the Hamas attack in Gaza, Hizbullah, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization, has intensified cross-border attacks into Israel, including rocket, mortar, and drone strikes.

Sgt. Amit Hod Ziv, 19, from the IDF’s 188th Armored Brigade, was killed in a Hizbullah rocket attack, and another soldier was seriously injured. Additionally, two civilians in Moshav Dovev sustained light injuries from an anti-tank missile.

Hizbullah’s aggression also reached Moshav Avivim, where an anti-tank missile set cars on fire and damaged a house’s roof. Amid these attacks, northern Israeli communities are increasingly concerned about a possible cross-border invasion, similar to Hamas’ attack on October 7, which resulted in mass casualties and hostage-taking.

Ofer Moscowitz, a resident of Kibbutz Misgav Am near the Lebanese border, expressed fears about Hizbullah using tunnels for a major attack, recalling incidents of hearing digging noises. Israel uncovered several Hizbullah tunnels in 2018, and residents remain vigilant and concerned about the ongoing threat.
