The term “neutralized” is commonly used by Turkish authorities to denote that the targeted individuals either surrendered, were captured, or were killed. The operation, which commenced in April 2022, also resulted in the seizure of 1,343 weapons and over 706,650 rounds of ammunition.
Operation Claw-Lock is aimed against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the northern region of Iraq near the Turkish border. Turkey identifies the PKK as a terrorist organization responsible for a 35-year campaign of attacks against the nation.
