Over 100 Rockets Hit Haifa in Hezbollah’s Most Intense Attack Yet
Hezbollah unleashed its heaviest rocket barrage on the Israeli port city of Haifa on Tuesday, firing more than 100 rockets within a half-hour. The attack, which caused explosions across the city’s suburbs, was part of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, as the Lebanese group insisted its military capabilities remained intact despite weeks of Israeli airstrikes.
Israel’s Iron Dome defense system intercepted most of the rockets, but several managed to reach their targets in the suburbs of Kiryat Yam and Kiryat Motzkin, where damage was reported to homes. A woman in her 70s was injured by falling shrapnel and taken to the hospital, where she was listed in good-to-moderate condition, according to Magen David Adom medics.
The skies over Haifa were filled with trails of interceptor rockets rising to meet the incoming barrages while thousands of Israelis ran for bomb shelters as sirens wailed throughout the city. Police urged residents to continue following emergency instructions and seek shelter when sirens sound.
The rocket barrage came as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified their strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs, reportedly killing a senior Hezbollah official. The military did not immediately provide further details on the strikes.
