Death Toll Rises to 3 in Tel Aviv Terrorist Attack
Sourasky Medical Center announced Friday afternoon that a third person who was injured in Thursday’s shooting attack in central Tel Aviv had died of his injuries.
The victims were named as Barak Lufen, 35, a father of three who was a coach on Israel’s Paralympic team and head coach of the Israeli national kayak team; and Tomer Morad and Eytam Magini, both 27, who were childhood friends from Kfar Saba.
At least a dozen others were wounded.
The terrorist who began his attack by opening fire on a crowded bar on Dizengoff Street was located and killed in a firefight with Israeli security forces early Friday morning.
The attacker was identified as Ra’ad Hazem, 28, from Jenin in the West Bank. He was discovered hiding near a mosque in Jaffa.
Ten people were brought to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center with wounds of varying severity. At least four of them were rushed into emergency operations to treat their injuries. Another four people with milder injuries were taken to Wolfson Hospital in Holon and Sheba Hospital at Tel Hashomer.
No group took responsibility for the attack but it was celebrated by Palestinian armed groups including Hamas and Islamic Jihad and was condemned by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
