Pro-Israel Rally Fills Washington, D.C.; Many Flights Turned Away
While tens of thousands of people gathered in the nation’s capital, Washington’s “March for Israel” generated more interest than D.C.-area airports were able to handle.
The Media Line has learned that airport privileges for as many as forty chartered aircraft were canceled at Washington-Dulles and Baltimore-Washington-International airports. Disappointed would-be rally participants from the Toronto area told The Media Line that officials had said the reason for the abrupt cancelation of two flights with 300 passengers each was insufficient facilities to process the flights and the designation of the event by the Department of Homeland Security as “Level 1.” DHS describes Level 1 as a “significant event with national or international importance that requires extensive federal interagency support.”
