Qatar Airways Signs $200B Jet Deal With Boeing During Trump Visit

Qatar Airways signed a multibillion-dollar deal with American aerospace giant Boeing on Wednesday, purchasing up to 160 aircraft in a ceremony attended by US President Donald Trump and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The agreement, signed during Trump’s visit to Doha, is reportedly worth over $200 billion, though details about the specific aircraft models and the nature of the orders remain unclear.

Speaking at the event, Trump hailed the signing as a historic moment for American industry. “It’s over $200 billion but 160 in terms of the jets, that’s fantastic. So that’s a record, Kelly, and congratulations to Boeing. Get those planes out there,” he said, referencing Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, who signed the deal alongside Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

Trump noted Ortberg had told him the deal represents “the largest order of jets in the history of Boeing.” Neither Boeing nor Qatar Airways immediately commented on the specifics.

The signing comes as part of Trump’s broader tour of Gulf states, following a string of commercial and defense agreements sealed in Saudi Arabia a day earlier.
