Report: Iran Rejects De-escalation Efforts, Vows To Strike Israel Amid Rising Tensions

Israel is on high alert as tensions escalate with Iran and its allies following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, for which Iran has vowed to retaliate. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, attempts by the US and Arab nations to de-escalate the situation have been rejected by Iran, which has stated it will strike Israel even if it means triggering a broader conflict.

The assassination of Haniyeh has intensified the already high tensions in the region. In response to the growing threat, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel is prepared for any aggression, stating that “the State of Israel is in a multi-front war against Iran’s axis of evil.” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant echoed this sentiment, indicating that Israel is reviewing plans to respond forcefully to any attacks.

Diplomatic efforts to diffuse the situation have so far been unsuccessful. Foreign ministers from Jordan and Lebanon reportedly traveled to Iran in an attempt to mediate, but their efforts were rebuffed. Israel is now bracing for the possibility of a coordinated attack led by Iran, which could involve multiple days of missile strikes, according to reports.

The US has been actively working to revive a regional coalition to counter any potential attacks similar to the one that successfully thwarted a large-scale Iranian missile and drone attack in April. However, concerns are mounting over the potential for significant damage and casualties should another attack occur.
