6 Israeli Troops Killed in Lebanon in Second Deadliest Day of Conflict
Wednesday marked the second-deadliest day for Israeli forces in southern Lebanon since the start of ground operations, with six soldiers killed in action, the Israeli army said in a statement.
The IDF statement claims that as Israeli forces advanced deeper into southern Lebanon past the second line of border villages for the first time, a gunfight with Hezbollah operatives claimed the lives of the slain soldiers, all of whom belonged to the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion.

The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

Based on the military’s initial probe of the incident, Hezbollah fighters embedded in a building opened fire on the soldiers, killing six soldiers and moderately wounding one more. Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported that all four Hezbollah operatives were eventually eliminated.
These losses bring Israeli military fatalities in Lebanon to 47 as clashes with the Iran-backed paramilitary continue to escalate. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continued to pummel targets in Lebanon, with the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, Col. Avichay Adraee, publishing maps, and evacuation orders for areas of Beirut’s southern suburbs earlier Wednesday.
On October 2, days after Israel announced a ground incursion into Lebanon, six Egoz commandos and two members of the Golani recon unit died.
The Golani Brigade has been involved in major combat operations both in Lebanon and in the war against Hamas in Gaza.
