Trump Warns Iran Over Baghdad Embassy Attack

US President Donald Trump put Iran on notice over recent attacks on the US Embassy in Baghdad’s Green Zone.

In a tweet on Wednesday, President Trump identified Iran as being behind Sunday’s rocket attacks on the embassy. “Some friendly health advice to Iran. If one American is killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over,” the tweet said. The tweet included a photo of three unexploded rockets, identified as Iranian weaponry.

Iran’s foreign ministry responded, saying Iran rejects attacks on diplomatic and residential areas. Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a tweet accused Trump of trying to deflect attention from domestic political issues.

The most recent attack on the embassy killed one Iraqi citizen and damaged the embassy compound. The United States Central Command called the attack the largest in a decade.
