US Sen. Elizabeth Warren: ICJ Has ‘Ample Evidence’ To Find Israel Guilty of Genocide
Senator Elizabeth Warren, during an appearance last week at the Islamic Center of Boston, expressed her belief that international legal bodies could classify Israel’s conduct in Gaza as genocide. The senior Democratic senator from Massachusetts emphasized the importance of articulating what she considered to be the immorality of the Israeli government’s actions rather than engaging in debates over terminology. But, pressed by an audience member for a yes or no response to whether these actions constituted genocide, the senator answered: “If you want to do it as an application of law, I believe that they’ll find that it is genocide, and they have ample evidence to do so.”
At a Q&A at a Wayland mosque last week, @SenWarren is asked if she thinks that Israel is committing a genocide.

Warren’s comments underscored her criticism of the humanitarian impact on Gaza’s civilian population. “It is wrong to starve children within a civilian population. … It is wrong to drop 2,000-pound bombs in densely populated civilian areas,” she stated.
A spokesperson for Warren clarified that her remarks referenced the ongoing legal process at the International Court of Justice, rather than offering a personal opinion on the occurrence of genocide in Gaza. The International Court of Justice has directed Israel to adhere to the 1948 Genocide Convention, stressing the prevention of actions that could be interpreted as genocidal.
Warren has voiced opposition to the Biden Administration’s stance on Israel, advocating for a cease-fire and conditions on US aid to the country. Following an Israeli drone strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, Warren called for an immediate cease-fire and increased humanitarian aid to Gaza and said the need to protect aid workers and address the human impact of the crisis must be prioritized.
