The Lebanese army responded to the origins of the explosive attacks, stating it had previously warned against activities that could harm army positions. This is the latest incident in a series of confrontations that have escalated since Thursday between Fatah members and Islamist groups at Ain al-Hilweh, Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp. Over the past three days, the violence has resulted in dozens of injuries. Earlier this year, between July 29 and August 3, similar clashes in the camp resulted in at least 13 deaths.
