Algeria and Slovenia Ink Agreements on Gas Exports, AI, Diplomatic Visas

Algeria and Slovenia signed several cooperation agreements on Monday, including a significant deal to boost Algeria’s gas exports to Slovenia. The agreements were signed in Algiers between Algerian energy giant Sonatrach and Slovenia’s natural gas trader Geoplin. The signing ceremony was attended by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, Algeria’s state-run APS news agency reported.

The primary agreement will see Algeria increasing its natural gas exports to Slovenia through the gas pipeline that links Algeria to Italy across the Mediterranean. This deal is expected to enhance energy cooperation between the two nations.

Additionally, the two countries agreed to grant short-term visa exemptions to their diplomatic passport holders. This cooperation agreement aims to facilitate diplomatic exchanges and strengthen bilateral relations.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed regarding artificial intelligence, signaling a step forward in technological collaboration between Algeria and Slovenia.

During his visit, Prime Minister Golob also discussed international issues with President Tebboune, including the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

These agreements reflect a growing partnership between Algeria and Slovenia, with energy and technology cooperation at the forefront. The visit by the Slovenian prime minister marks a significant moment in strengthening ties between the two countries.
