Book Reveals Israel’s Secret Mission to Destroy Syria’s Nuclear Facility

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW BY FELICE FRIEDSON/THE MEDIA LINE

SHADOW STRIKE: ISRAEL’S SECRET MISSION TO DESTROY A SYRIAN REACTOR

Middle East watchers all know the name “Osirak,” the location of the Iraqi nuclear reactor that was the target of a thrilling raid by a squad of Israeli jet fighters in 1981. But few recognize the name “Deir ez-Zour” or are aware of an equally tense night Israel’s military spent in 2007 when a reactor discovered by Israeli intelligence that had been built by North Korea was destroyed in a raid that has all but remained secret in the years that have followed.  The story of the raid was written by Jerusalem Post editor-in-chief Yaakov Katz in a book called, “Shadow Strike,” published by St. Martin’s Press. Katz was recently interviewed at The Media Line Mideast Bureau by TML’s Felice Friedson. The interview can be read or watched, but either way you’ll get a flavor of an exciting read.
