Egypt Admits Hundreds of Injured Gazans, Aids in Relief Efforts

Egypt’s State Information Service Chairman Diaa Rashwan announced that 575 individuals from the Gaza Strip injured in the Israel-Hamas conflict have been admitted to Egyptian hospitals.  Accompanying them were around 320 people. Rashwan further stated that 8,691 foreign and dual nationals, along with 1,258 Egyptians, have crossed into Egypt from Gaza, while 421 Palestinians stranded in Egypt have returned to Gaza.

Since October 21, Egypt’s Al-Arish Airport has received 239 planes loaded with humanitarian aid destined for the war-stricken Gaza Strip. Additionally, 2,670 trucks carrying aid and fuel have passed through the Rafah crossing into Gaza.

Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to expediting humanitarian aid to Gaza, aiming to alleviate the deepening humanitarian crisis. This effort comes in the wake of a four-day humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas, which was extended for an additional two days and now appears to be extended still further.

The conflict, which escalated following the infiltration into Israeli communities and atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, has resulted in over 15,000 Palestinian deaths and 36,000 injuries, according to the Hamas-run government in the Gaza Strip. Israeli authorities say around 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals were killed in the initial massacres on October 7 and that the Israeli death toll now exceeds 1,300. In addition, around 7,300 Israelis have been wounded and 248 Israelis and foreign nationals were taken hostage by Hamas and allied terrorist groups.
