Egypt’s Digital Exports Surge to $6.2 Billion in 2023

Egypt’s digital exports increased by 26.5% in 2023, reaching $6.2 billion, up from $4.9 billion in 2022, announced Egyptian Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat. Addressing the Egyptian Senate, Talaat highlighted his ministry’s efforts in developing the outsourcing industry and enhancing the digital sector, contributing significantly to the growth in digital exports.

Talaat detailed the ministry’s strategies, including signing agreements with 74 international and local companies since November 2022, aimed at employing 60,000 outsourcing specialists. He emphasized the ministry’s initiatives to increase the number of professionals in the outsourcing industry to 550,000. This expansion is targeted to achieve a lofty goal of exporting digital services worth $9 billion by 2026.

The minister described Egypt’s strategic plan to develop the outsourcing sector, aiming to attract major international investments, expand digital exports, and create employment opportunities for youth in the digital economy.

This surge in digital exports follows Egypt’s launch of a five-year strategy in 2022, focusing on establishing the country as a leading outsourcing destination and services hub.
