Iran Conducts Extensive Military Exercise Spanning Strategic Regions
Iran launched a major military exercise Thursday spanning from its southwest to southeast regions, as reported by the semiofficial Fars news agency. The drill, named Modafean Aseman Velayat 1402 or Guardians of Velayat Sky 1402, saw the participation of selected air, navy, and ground units from the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps.
The exercise covered an area from Abadan in the southwest to Chabahar in the southeast, with naval activities conducted within a 400-kilometer radius off the southern coast. Spokesperson Abbas Farajpour highlighted the use of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles for intelligence and reconnaissance, alongside tactical operations to counteract invading aircraft.
Qader Rahimzadeh, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, emphasized the utilization of hybrid, indigenous, and innovative tactics, designed to address modern threats. The exercise aimed to test Iran’s air defense systems against various threats, strengthen all-around defense capabilities in electronic warfare and cyberspace, and boost intelligence supremacy.
The large-scale drill underscores Iran’s focus on enhancing its military readiness and deterrence capabilities, reflecting its commitment to securing its airspace and coastal areas against potential threats.
