Iraq Turns Over 188 ISIS Kids to Turkey
Iraqi authorities have handed over custody to Ankara some 188 children who are the offspring of Turkish members of the Islamic State. During the time ISIS was building a “caliphate” – a state ruled by Islamic religious law – the children were born to families of the terror group’s fighters. Following the defeat of ISIS on the ground, custody of the children became a concern. According to news reports from the region, the United Nations and Iraqi government officials were present and observing the transfer of the children, the parents of whom, are or were Turkish nationals. Recently, a number of Europeans have been placed on trial in Iraq for their support of ISIS and a number have been sentenced to death. The Reuters news agency is reporting that at least 30 ISIS terrorists captured in Syria by American forces have been sent to Iraq – where the death penalty is often ordered — to stand trial.
