Israel, Kenya Strengthen Economic, Diplomatic Ties

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Kenyan President William Ruto have agreed to boost bilateral economic and diplomatic cooperation. The two leaders met privately in Jerusalem before holding an expanded meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office.

According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, the leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, technology, cyber-defense, water, agriculture, and the restoration of a direct air route between the two countries. Netanyahu expressed his hopes for Kenya to serve as a gateway for trade and international cooperation throughout Africa.

Ruto confirmed that both nations had agreed to deepen their collaboration, improve connectivity, and broaden Kenya’s range of exports to Israel. The two sides also signed joint declarations of intent to strengthen cooperation in tourism and environmental protection, encompassing climate change, waste management, biological diversity, and the prevention of water and air pollution.

Israel and Kenya established diplomatic relations in 1963 and have maintained cooperation in various fields, including security, agriculture, technology, and counterterrorism.
