Jordanian Aid Convoys Deliver Grain to West Bank Palestinians

Substantial food aid to alleviate shortages in West Bank

Jordan has initiated the delivery of 45,000 tons of wheat and other grains to aid the Palestinians in the West Bank. Announced by Jordanian Industry, Trade and Supply Minister Yousef Shamali, the assistance began with the dispatch of 10 trucks, each carrying 23 tons of wheat, through the King Hussein Bridge border crossing.

The shipments, part of a cabinet decision, will continue on a daily basis, comprising 30,000 tons of wheat and 15,000 tons of other grains. This move underscores Jordan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, particularly in addressing food shortages in the West Bank.

Shamali also highlighted Jordan’s role as a leading supporter of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, with a recent donation of 3 million Jordanian dinars (approximately $4.2 million) for Palestinian aid in Gaza.

Muhannad Mubaidin, Jordan’s government communications minister, emphasized during the press conference that this substantial shipment aims to bolster the strategic food stock for Palestinians in the West Bank, a move that he said reinforced Jordan’s position as a key ally in regional humanitarian efforts.
