Kuwait’s Emir Urges Kuwaitis To Vote Wisely in Upcoming Parliamentary Elections
Kuwait’s emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Monday called on voters to exercise discernment in the upcoming National Assembly elections slated for April 4. Speaking during the last 10 days of Ramadan, the emir highlighted the critical importance of electing representatives who prioritize Kuwait’s national interests above personal ambitions or divisive political agendas.
Addressing the nation through Kuwait’s official news agency KUNA and on state television, the emir underscored the importance of integrity, crisis avoidance, and adherence to constitutional principles in political candidates. He strongly advised against betraying the electoral vote by choosing candidates who could potentially incite crises or undermine Kuwait’s constitutional framework.
This appeal comes in the wake of Sheikh Mishal’s decision to dissolve the National Assembly on February 15. He also said that abstaining from voting was a forfeiture of constitutional rights, urging a robust turnout to shape a parliament capable of navigating Kuwait through its current challenges.
