Libya-Tunisia Border Crossing Set To Reopen After Months of Closure

The Ras Ajdir border crossing, a crucial link between Libya and Tunisia, will partially reopen on Thursday after being closed for months, according to the Libyan Interior Ministry. The closure, which began on March 19, followed an attack by a “criminal group.” Full operations are set to resume on June 20.

Libyan Interior Minister Emad al-Tarabelsi and Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Nouri met in Tripoli to discuss the reopening. They addressed issues such as smuggling and traveler identification problems, committing to maintenance and upgrades to meet international standards. Nouri emphasized Tunisia’s dedication to improving cooperation and resolving challenges at the border.
