Rami Makhlouf, the cousin of ousted President Bashar Assad, publicly accused Brig. Gen. Ghiath Dalla and elements of the former regime of orchestrating the bloodshed. He criticized Assad as a “fleeing president” and blamed him for Syria’s collapse. Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights described the massacres as “systematic killing” based on religious identity.
Syria’s interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, vowed that no one would be above the law. The investigative commission, consisting of judges, security officials, and human rights lawyers, is expected to present its findings within 30 days.
