Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch announced on Wednesday in Marrakech that his government would soon launch Digital Strategy 2030, a comprehensive roadmap for advancing digital economic development. Speaking at the opening ceremony of Gitex Africa 2024, a major tech show on the continent, Akhannouch emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the digital transition, the state-run Maghreb Arabe Press news agency reported.

The Moroccan Digital Strategy 2030 will focus on enhancing the digitalization of public services and boosting the digital economy. Akhannouch stated that the strategy aims to “develop Moroccan digital solutions and create added value and jobs.”
Stressing the importance of the digital transition for African countries, Akhannouch remarked, “The digital transition is not a technological luxury but an essential lever for consolidating cooperation between African countries. It offers tangible solutions to the challenges facing the continent, promotes sustainable development, and guarantees an environment conducive to strengthening African integration.”
