Qatar’s Emir Accuses Israel of Expanding ‘Aggression’ in West Bank and Lebanon

Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, accused Israel of deliberately expanding its military actions in the West Bank and Lebanon during his annual address to the Shura Council on Tuesday. Sheikh Tamim claimed Israel was taking advantage of the current situation to implement pre-planned schemes in these regions.

“Israel has deliberately chosen to expand its aggression because it sees that the scope for that is available,” Sheikh Tamim said during the speech, referring to Israel’s ongoing military operations.

The address, which opened the annual session of the Shura Council, a body that holds legislative authority in Qatar but does not influence defense, security, or economic policy, also touched on proposed amendments to the country’s constitution. These amendments will be put to a popular referendum vote, although the Council has no power over national security or investment policy.
