Sunni Muslim Strikes on Iranian Military Bases in Southeast Kill 5 Officers

Suspected Sunni Muslim terrorists launched deadly attacks on military installations, resulting in the death of at least five Iranian security officers and injuries to another 10. State media identified the attackers as members of Jaish al-Adl, a known extremist group, targeting the Iranian Revolutionary Guards headquarters in the strategic locales of Rask and Chabahar in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

The assaults occurred overnight, leading to intense firefights that ultimately saw at least 15 terrorists killed by security forces. Deputy Interior Minister Majid Mirahmadi confirmed that the terrorists’ plans to overtake the Guards’ headquarters were foiled. Jaish al-Adl, the group claimed responsible for the attacks, is a Sunni Muslim terrorist organization with a history of operations in southeastern Iran and across the border in Pakistan’s western province of Balochistan. This recent aggression follows a January incident where Iran retaliated against Jaish al-Adl by targeting the group’s bases in Pakistan with missile strikes. Pakistan’s response was swift, with its military targeting what it described as “separatist militants” within Iran’s borders.
