Yemen’s Houthi Movement Hosts Axis of Resistance Conference With Key Regional Players
Yemen’s Houthi group hosted an online meeting on Wednesday with leaders from Iran, Hizbullah, Hamas, and other factions of the “axis of resistance.” The Iran-backed jihadist groups convened to deliberate on the current state of affairs in Gaza and the broader region. The event saw prominent figures such as Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh sharing their perspectives and calling for unity against common adversaries.
Al-Houthi, in his address, emphasized the collective support for Palestine and the continuous effort to enhance the group’s capabilities. He also declared intentions to intensify operations in strategic maritime locations including the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Indian Ocean, as reported by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV.
Raisi critiqued the global community’s silence on Gaza’s ongoing conflict and advocated for widespread protests to exert pressure on Israel. Furthermore, he attributed a recent assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus to Israel, promising that such aggression would not go unanswered.
Nasrallah expressed admiration for the solidarity and resilience displayed by support fronts in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, despite facing threats. Haniyeh acknowledged the backing Hamas has received from Iran, Syria, Yemen, and others since the Gaza conflict began, condemning the assault on the Iranian mission in Damascus and implicating US support in the escalation of the Gaza conflict.
