Making Sense of the Current Interaction between Israel and Hamas (AUDIO INTERVIEW)

It was feared that last weekend, there would be a major escalation in violence between Israel and Hamas, the Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip. The weekend would follow exchanges of fire involving Hamas rockets and retaliatory air strikes by Israel, and serious concerns that a weekly protest by Gazans along the border fence would prove almost impossible to control due to passions inflamed two key Palestinian anniversaries.

The weekend, however, came and went, and with less interaction than usual between the two sides.

To hear what might have been behind this, The Media Line spoke with Yaakov Lappin, a research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies.
