Iranian Parliament Speaker Calls for Unified Muslim Response After Nasrallah’s Death

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf called on Muslim nations to take a strong and united stand against Israel on Sunday, urging legislative bodies and governments to deter future “violations of international law and human rights.” Ghalibaf made the remarks during a phone conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Ghalibaf also expressed condolences over the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut, on Friday. The same attack also claimed the life of senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Abbas Nilforoushan.

During the call, Ghalibaf stressed the need for Muslim states to work together to prevent further Israeli aggression. “We must create deterrence and pursue legal actions to ensure violations by Israel cease,” he said. He praised Nasrallah, calling him a “great scholar and influential commander,” and described his death as a major loss for both Hezbollah and the wider Muslim community.

In response, Berri said Nasrallah’s death “has left all of Lebanon in mourning,” emphasizing the importance of unity during this time of heightened tensions. He reiterated that resistance against Israel would continue.
