US biotech firm Novavax said on Monday it has started the Phase 1 clinical trial in Australia of a novel coronavirus vaccine candidate and has enrolled the trial’s first participants, with preliminary results slated for July.

The White House on Sunday announced a travel ban to the United States for non-citizens who have been in Brazil during the previous 14 days. Coronavirus infections and deaths in the Latin American country have skyrocketed, and it now trails only the US in total cases. As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases there stood at 363,211, with 22,666 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus tracker.

Israel limits cellphone surveillance to ‘special cases’

The Israeli cabinet on Sunday limited the authority of the Shin Bet internal security service to track people infected with the coronavirus via their cellphone. The cabinet said the surveillance measure could still be used in “special cases” where locations cannot be identified using other methods.
