3 Killed in Israeli Strike on Sanaa Airport Following Ben Gurion Missile

The Israeli military struck Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport on Tuesday, its second strike in 48 hours targeting Houthi infrastructure following a ballistic missile that landed near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport over the weekend.

According to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, three people were killed in the latest airstrike. Witnesses reported four separate blasts at the airport, and the Houthi-controlled health ministry said three civilian airplanes and the departures hall were hit. The military said the operation came in direct response to Sunday’s long-range Houthi missile attack that wounded several people near Israel’s main international airport.

The Israel Defense Forces said its fighter jets carried out the strike to dismantle infrastructure “used by the Houthi regime to transfer weapons and operatives,” adding that the attack “fully disabled” the airport. The operation also targeted a cement factory in Amran and several power stations near Sanaa. The military accused the Houthis of using these facilities to construct tunnels, transfer weapons, and support ongoing attacks against Israel.

The IDF said dozens of aircraft participated in the strikes, including fighter jets, refueling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft. They issued a rare Arabic-language public warning prior to the strike, urging civilians to evacuate the area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz observed the strikes from the IAF command bunker in Tel Aviv. Netanyahu said the attacks were a direct response to Sunday’s missile strike and a warning to Iran, which he accused of backing the Houthis’ operations. “Whoever attacks Israel — his blood will be on his own head,” he said.

Israeli warplanes also struck targets near the port city of Hodeidah on Monday, killing four and wounding 39, according to Houthi reports.

The Houthis recently vowed to enforce an aerial blockade on Israel by targeting airports, days after their missile hit near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and forced several international airlines to suspend service.
