Former Military Advocate General Rushed to Hospital After Suspected Sleeping Pill Overdose
Former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was hospitalized at the Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv on Sunday morning after a medical episode involving the ingestion of sleeping pills. Emergency responders said she was fully conscious when evacuated from her home, and doctors reported that her condition was not life-threatening. Investigators are reviewing whether the circumstances point to an attempted act of self-harm.
The incident came just days after she was released to house arrest. Her release followed a turbulent week in which she resigned from her position and admitted to leaking a classified video last year. Five days earlier, she had briefly gone missing on a beach before being located by authorities.

Tomer-Yerushalmi is at the center of a criminal investigation involving allegations of fraud, breach of trust, obstruction of justice, and the unlawful transmission of confidential material. The case focuses on her role in passing to the media a video said to show soldiers apparently mistreating a Gazan detainee at the Sde Teiman facility.
Police officials say she has been deemed medically fit to participate in the legal proceedings. According to one source involved in the investigation, “she is responsible for herself,” adding that the district psychiatrist had found no basis for changing the terms of her release or ordering hospitalization.
Separately, police cyber specialists are attempting to assess the condition of her iPhone, which was retrieved from the sea near Hof Hatsuk after spending several days underwater. The device was discovered with the lock screen visible, but investigators stressed that this does not indicate that the internal memory survived exposure to saltwater. A police source familiar with the technical assessment said that after several days in the sea, it is “highly unlikely” that the data remains intact.
Authorities have reiterated that Tomer-Yerushalmi continues to be treated as a suspect, particularly in relation to obstruction of justice and providing a false report. The investigation is ongoing as officials attempt to determine the full scope of her actions leading up to—and following—the leak of the classified footage.
