Israel Tightens Civilian Restrictions as IDF Launches Ground Raids in Lebanon
The IDF Home Front Command has issued new restrictions for civilians in northern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the northern West Bank, after Hezbollah fired rockets at the center of the country.
Schools and workplaces can remain open only if shelters are nearby, and gatherings are limited to 30 people outdoors and 300 indoors. Beaches are closed amid the escalating conflict with Hezbollah, and these guidelines will remain in place until Saturday, following the Jewish New Year holiday.

In the meantime, the Israeli military has launched “limited, localized, and targeted ground raids” against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The raids are supported by air and artillery strikes, aimed at neutralizing immediate threats to northern Israeli communities. The IDF confirmed that elite paratroopers and the 98th division, redeployed from Gaza, are involved in these operations.
Hezbollah responded with rocket and artillery fire, escalating the situation. This comes in the wake of the Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last week, significantly impacting the group’s leadership.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reiterated Israel’s commitment to using “all means” necessary to secure its northern region and allow displaced citizens to return safely.
