Israel’s Security Cabinet Authorizes 9 West Bank Outposts

Israel’s Security Cabinet unanimously authorized nine new West Bank outposts “in response to the murderous terrorist attacks in Jerusalem,” according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. The outposts, some of which have existed for decades, are: Avigayil, Beit Hogla, Givat Harel, Givat Arnon, Mitzpe Yehuda, Malachei Hashalom, Asahel, Sde Boaz and Shacharit.

The Civil Administration Higher Planning Committee will meet in the coming days to approve new construction in the West Bank, the statement also said, with reports suggesting that some 10,000 housing units could be advanced.

The Security Cabinet also decided to reinforce police and border police units in Jerusalem, and to expanded police operations against “inciters and supporters of terrorism.”

The decisions came after a car ramming attack in east Jerusalem that left two brothers, 6 and 8, and a 20-year-old yeshiva student dead.
