Netanyahu Calls for Peace With Iranians as Israel Targets Regional Threats

Israel’s military has intensified preparations for potential strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, officials announced Thursday, following significant developments in the region. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently destroyed over 85% of Syria’s air defense systems in a series of large-scale operations, achieving what they describe as “total air superiority.” This development comes as Iran faces growing isolation after the collapse of Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria and the weakening of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The IDF confirmed that its strikes, conducted over several days, targeted advanced weapons systems, air defense arrays, and other military sites across Syria. These operations aimed to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of Hezbollah or other groups hostile to Israel. The destruction included hundreds of missiles, fighter jets, helicopters, and chemical weapons facilities. With only a fraction of Syria’s air defenses intact, Israeli officials believe their aircraft can now operate freely across Syrian airspace and beyond, creating new opportunities for surveillance and potential strikes on Iran.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranian people directly on Thursday, reiterating Israel’s stance against the regime in Tehran. In a video message, Netanyahu criticized the Iranian government for prioritizing support for proxies like Assad and Hezbollah over its own people.

“You suffer under the rule of a regime that subjugates you and threatens us,” he said, pointing to billions of dollars spent on regional aggression instead of domestic development. Netanyahu expressed hope for a future in which Iran is free, stating, “Together, we will transform the Middle East into a beacon of prosperity, progress, and peace.”

Israel’s heightened readiness comes as concerns mount over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Despite Tehran’s claims that its nuclear program is peaceful, Israel and Western intelligence agencies assert that Iran has maintained military aspirations for its nuclear activities.
