Pentagon Sends Troops and Jets to Middle East as Israel-Iran Tensions Grow
The Pentagon announced plans to send several thousand additional US troops and fighter jets to the Middle East to prevent the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran’s proxies from spreading further. The deployment, which includes F-16, F-15E, F-22 fighters, and A-10 attack jets, will add to the already significant US military presence in the region.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered the move in response to Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and anticipated Israeli ground operations in Lebanon. The Pentagon has also extended the deployments of several warships, including those in the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, currently stationed in the Arabian Sea.
The US military presence in the region remains on high alert as Iran has called for Muslim forces to unite against Israel. Iran’s rhetoric, led by Ali Khamenei, urged further resistance against Israel, amplifying the stakes as regional tensions continue to rise.
