Saudi Arabia To Open Rail Line to Jordanian Border: Minister

Saudi Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said Monday that Riyadh would open a new rail line reaching the country’s border with Jordan. The railway, Al-Jasser told a meeting of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), would facilitate the movement of passengers, cargo, and vehicles between the two countries. Jordanian Industry and Trade Minister Yousef Shamali said Saudi Arabia was one of Jordan’s biggest commercial partners and that the two countries had important strategic relations at all levels. JCC President Nael Kabariti said transport was vital for economic development, called for the two countries to unify the regulation of their transport systems as a means of facilitating greater trade between them, and highlighted the need for a Saudi-Jordanian agreement on storage logistics to strengthen food security.
