US Warns of ‘Massive’ Impact on Israel if Palestinian Authority Collapses
The United States has warned Israel of a “massive” negative impact if the Palestinian Authority (PA) collapses, urging its ally to continue allowing revenue to flow to the Ramallah-based body. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller emphasized the critical role of the PA in maintaining stability in the West Bank, especially during the ongoing war in Gaza.
“We have made clear to the government of Israel in some very direct conversations that there is nothing that could be more counter to the strategic interests of Israel than the collapse of the Palestinian Authority,” Miller told reporters. While acknowledging the PA’s shortcomings, he highlighted its stabilizing influence in the West Bank.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

“If you saw the Palestinian Authority collapse and instability spread across the West Bank, it’s not just a problem for the Palestinians,” Miller added, “it is also a massive security threat for the state of Israel.”
Under peace agreements from the 1990s, Israel collects money on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited autonomy in parts of the West Bank. However, following the October 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza, Israel blocked revenue transfers for months. The funds were recently released via Norway to ensure they do not reach Gaza.
