Flight Cancellations and Evacuations Surge After Iranian Missile Strike

Flight Cancellations and Evacuations Surge After Iranian Missile Strike

Countries around the world are adjusting flight routes and preparing evacuations as tensions escalate in the Middle East following Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Israel. On Tuesday, Iran launched over 180 missiles in response to Israel’s ongoing campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. In the aftermath, airspace over Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon was temporarily closed, causing flight diversions and cancellations across the region.

Several airlines, including Etihad Airways, Emirates, and Qatar Airways, have rerouted or suspended flights to affected areas such as Iraq, Iran, Israel, and Jordan. These precautions were implemented to safeguard passengers and crews from the volatile situation. Flight tracking services like FlightRadar24 have shown many planes diverting through Cairo and Istanbul to avoid conflict zones. Emirates, Flydubai, and Kuwait Airways have all confirmed they are closely monitoring developments and adapting routes as needed.

Meanwhile, multiple countries are actively evacuating their citizens from the region. Spain is preparing to send military aircraft to evacuate 350 citizens from Lebanon, while China has successfully evacuated over 200 of its nationals. South Korea is also mobilizing military planes to bring back its citizens from Israel and Lebanon, following orders from President Yoon Suk Yeol. The South Korean government has urged its citizens in the region to leave immediately.

This disruption is expected to further strain global air travel, already burdened by ongoing conflicts involving Russia, Ukraine, and Israel.
