Most Arab States Don’t Take Sides in Russia-Ukraine Conflict

There is a deafening silence from Arab capitals on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Many of Washington’s Arab allies remain mum on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, opting to stay neutral in their statements and calling for an end to violence and to respect the sovereignty of all countries while urging “self-restraint.” The exceptions are Syria, which has aligned itself with Russia, and Libya, which affirmed its commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
