Security Concerns Force Cancellation of Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Israel

The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup, scheduled for June 26-28 in Jerusalem’s Pais Arena, has been canceled due to security concerns in Israel, the Israel Gymnastics Federation announced on Wednesday, following guidance from the International Gymnastics Federation. No international sports events have taken place in Israel since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023. Expressing both understanding and disappointment, the federation said it hoped the event would serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. Plans are now shifting to host the competition next year, with aspirations for a more peaceful and secure environment. The cancellation reduces the 2024 Challenge Cup series to two venues: Portimão, Portugal, and Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
