Yemen’s Houthi Group Targets US Warship in Red Sea With Missiles

Yemen’s Houthi group on Wednesday launched an attack on the American warship USS Gravely in the Red Sea using naval missiles, the group’s military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, said. The assault was described as a response to the situation in Gaza and “aggression” against Yemen. Sarea warned that all American and British warships in the Red and Arabian Seas participating in the conflict are potential targets. This stance includes plans to block Israeli commercial vessels from transiting the Red Sea until hostilities in Gaza cease.

The US Central Command confirmed the interception of a Houthi-fired anti-ship cruise missile by the USS Gravely, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer. No injuries or damages were reported. This incident follows the Houthi group’s earlier claims of attacking a US warship and a British oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.
