Biden Is Helping Sinwar Fulfill His Wildest Dreams

Maariv, Israel, May 10

In the wake of the devastating massacre endured on October 7, a wave of gratitude toward US President Joe Biden swept through the nation. Many saw Biden as the “adult in charge” who reassured them in their darkest hour. Signs bearing his image even appeared in classrooms, expressing thanks for his support. But let’s not overlook the glaring issue: Actions speak louder than words. Despite the initial praise, there are lingering concerns about Biden’s approach to Iran and Qatar. Both countries, known for supporting terrorism, have exploited his administration’s weak stance. By prioritizing dialogue over deterrence, Biden has unwittingly emboldened our enemies. Although Biden may have good intentions, his policies have unintended consequences. His willingness to engage with Iran and Hamas has only emboldened those who seek to harm Israel. By continuing to focus on humanitarian aid for Gaza, while ignoring the threats posed by terrorist elements, Biden is playing into the hands of our enemies. Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas, has capitalized on Biden’s weakness to further his own agenda. Sinwar calculated that international pressure would prevent Israel from taking decisive action against his organization, and he was right. As Biden hesitates, Sinwar advances his plans, confident that Israel’s hands are tied. While Biden may have noble intentions, his actions are harmful to us. By imposing an arms embargo on Israel, he weakens our ability to defend ourselves against threats. Sinwar’s dream of a port in Gaza, once deemed impossible, is now becoming a reality thanks to Biden’s misguided policies. Biden’s lack of understanding of the Middle East has left a power vacuum that our enemies are more than willing to exploit. The gap between intent and impact is vast, and our enemies are quick to take advantage. In a region as volatile as ours, deafness to the realities on the ground can have dire consequences. Just ask Ukraine. —Eddie Katzman (translated by Asaf Zilberfarb)
