Cable Car Project Emergency Conference

Scholars, researchers and lovers of Jerusalem will gather to discuss the cable car project that threatens to undermine the unique character of the city. The event, sponsored by Emek Shaveh, is open to the public. Please come to listen and make yourself heard, Thursday, December 19, from 5 to 8 pm at Mishkenot Sha’ananim, Jerusalem.

The first session (5 to 6 pm) will feature architect Rivka Gutman, Israel Association of United Architects; Prof. Michael Turner, UNESCO chair in Urban Design and Conservation at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design; and former deputy mayor of Jerusalem Prof. David Cassuto.

The second session (6:15 to 8 pm) will feature Prof. Ariel Hirschfeld, Hebrew University of Jerusalem; human rights activist and researcher attorney Sami Ershied; Tel Aviv University Prof. Elchanan Reiner; and Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem in charge of foreign relations and tourism Fleur Hassan Nahoum.

The mediator will be Prof. Nurit Lissovsky, Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

There will be an open discussion on the impact of the plan on Jerusalem and its unique heritage.

English/Hebrew simultaneous translation is available. Admission is free. The conference will be broadcast live on Facebook.
