New Immigrants to Run for Free in 10th Jerusalem Marathon

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion has decided to allow new immigrants who have come to Israel since January 1, 2019 to participate free of charge in the Jerusalem Winner Marathon.

The marathon, set to take place on March 20, 2020, includes a breathtaking track, combining a challenging route and magnificent views telling the story of Jerusalem through its 3,000-year-old history. The signup period for the marathon will close on Saturday, March 14, and will once again include six legs: full marathon (42.2K); half-marathon (21.1K); 10K; 5K; family race (1.7K) and community race (800M).

For signup and participation details, lounge options and events taking place alongside the marathon please enter the official marathon website.

The marathon was originally planned for around 40,000 participants, including thousands of runners from more than 80 countries. But the website now cautions that “entry to Israel is prohibited for non-Israelis who had stayed in China 14 days prior to entry to Israel” and directs potential participants to “please review the latest regulation updates in Israel and your country” before registering for the marathon.

Jerusalem Winner Marathon has partnered with the Jerusalem Municipality’s Department of Sports, Jerusalem Development Authority, Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture and Sport. Toto-Winner is the primary sponsor alongside Saucony, which will provide the official marathon jersey.
