Rare Tour Offered of Islamic Center of Washington, D.C.

The Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art will host a tour of the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C. on August 22 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Many Arab countries contributed to the building of the center, which opened in the late 1950s and houses a mosque. Iran donated carpets, Turkey provided the tiles and Egypt sent experts to etch phrases from the Koran onto the walls.
