Riyadh to Host International Maritime Security Forum

The Saudi Royal Navy will hold the Saudi International Maritime Patrol Ships Forum, November 24-26 in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The forum’s theme is the Importance of Securing Strategic Seaways. All aspects of securing strategic sea lanes will be discussed. The chairman of the forum’s organizing committee, Commodore Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Ghamisi, said the forum would discuss ways to guarantee the security and safety of sea lanes in light of the strategic role that sea outlets play in the region and for worldwide imports and exports. He cited the Suez Canal, Bab el-Mandeb and Strait of Hormuz as important passages for international traffic, trade and the economy. In parallel, local and international companies will participate in an exhibition showcasing their latest equipment, technologies and systems in the field of maritime security.
