Gaza Violence Continues: Hamas Rockets and Israeli Response

Despite the recent cease-fire, violence shows little sign of letting up in and from the Gaza Strip. Israeli war planes took to the skies overnight and pounded Palestinian targets after two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel. One fell in a remote area and one was neutralized by the Iron Dome anti-missile system. Hamas has been on the receiving end of Israeli retaliation even though most of the rocketry has been acknowledged as being the work of Islamic Jihad. To Israel it does matter since official policy is that Hamas, as rulers of the Gaza Strip, bear full responsibility for any and all violent attacks. On Tuesday, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett announced that Israel’s military is targeting Hamas’s underground facilities and that the terror groups can expect retaliation from rockets that fail to find a target just as they would if the rockets found their marks.
