14 Killed in Airstrike by Saudi-led Coalition on Houthi-controlled Yemeni Capital

The Saudi-led coalition against the Houthi rebels in Yemen launched an airstrike Monday night that killed about 14 people in a building in the capital, Sanaa, residents said on Tuesday. Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV reported a statement from the coalition that the airstrikes targeted a meeting of senior Houthi leaders in Sanaa, killing all of them. The airstrikes were in retaliation for a drone attack on the United Arab Emirates, a coalition ally, that killed three people in Abu Dhabi earlier on Monday. The Houthis claimed responsibility for that attack, which resulted in the explosion of tanker trucks at an oil facility and a fire at a construction site on the grounds of Abu Dhabi’s international airport. The Saudi-led coalition said it also destroyed eight explosive-laden drones that the Houthi militia launched from Yemen toward the southern cities of Saudi Arabia.
