6-Year-Old Victim of Gaza Conflict Found Dead With Relatives

The body of 6-year-old Hind Rajab was discovered today alongside five family members and two paramedics, all apparently victims of Israeli military fire nearly two weeks ago. Hind had previously captured international attention with her desperate pleas for help, trapped by the conflict that has engulfed the region. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has accused Israel of intentionally targeting the ambulance dispatched for Hind’s rescue.

The grim discovery was made by family members in the Tel al-Hawa area, near a gas station where the family’s car had last been seen. According to Hind’s grandfather, Baha Hamada, they were able to access the site following the withdrawal of Israeli forces at dawn. What they found: a burned-out ambulance and a damaged vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

The PRCS said it coordinated with the Israeli military the dispatch of its ambulance and crew of two, named as Youssef Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoon, to rescue the girl,  whose family was killed after their car was caught in an area that had come under fire. But despite assurances that a green light for her rescue had been given, the ambulance also came under fire, and the last communication with the crew was ominously cut off by gunshots and an explosion.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have yet to comment on the incident.
